How long does it take to be an independent structurer

Hi all. I joined as a structurer after working as MO at a bank four months ago. Whilst I'm also anxious about my growth, the main problem is my mentor doesn't assign me enough work or even CC me to email queries he receive. There's no routine work for my team. Our teams work starts with other team's deal related pricing and structuring queries. I think I've shown an attitude to learn and being proactive enough. However, he said I need to develop "intuition" over derivatives, when I asked him for work and am willing to get my hands dirty. I told him I'm reading the materials he gave me (to develop "intuition") many times as well. When I joined immediately, the desk was really busy that he gave me some works and also set a schedule for regular q&a session which still continues and I appreciate it a lot. That time he CCed me around 40% of his email I think (now I think it's even decreased to <30%). He said he doesn't swamp me with deals that are all bespoke (indeed they are) and wanted me to focus on develop the intuition first.

Now the deal flow decreased to the level that the workload is enough for just enough for him. For several weeks, no work is passed to me!

As being impatient for my growth, I would hope to know how long did it take for other fellow structurers to become independent. Also appreciate any advice!
