How long to wait before hearing back for an internship offer?

Mid-December, I had my superday with a big firm for a summer analyst position within S&T. It been about a month now and I was wondering, how long should I wait to hear back for an offer or rejection? It was Christmas and New Years weeks following the Superday. So, I'd assume a lot of people had taken vacation days. Therefore, subtracting those two weeks out, leaves me in an actual wait time of 2 weeks. I've contacted HR to receive only short responses and beat around the bush answers in regards to a decision.

Could I still be in the running as a candidate, possibly as a back-up? And did I not suck enough to get receive a flat out rejection? Any comments or answers would be of great help. Thank you, the waiting has been dwelling over my head.

usually you will hear back within a week if you got the offer tbh. there could be delays, and you might be on the waitlist, but for that long, more likely than not, you're off their list
