How to become less nervous
Oddly enough im in a sales position (S&T) so it's weird to even write this post. Candidly I'm an outgoing person, I love talking to people, love making relationships (hence why im in sales), but ever since college I haven't been able to shake some weird nervousness in certain social settings. It's a classic paranoia of perceiving low risk situations as high risk for a seemingly trivial reason. When I'm comfortable, I'm comfortable, but for a while now it's been hard to mask this sense of nervousness and low self-esteem / lack of confidence.
This thought also had surfaced after seeing the latest round of interns. It was enjoyable getting to talk to them and I couldn't help but observe how their sole job was to practically float around and strike conversations with everyone junior or senior. And frankly they did it well. But it made me reflect on myself as an intern and it sucks because for some reasoned I perceived it so stressful and that made it very hard to do the one job I had which was to network with employees. Interns from this past summer seemed to do it so effortlessly and actually seemed to enjoy it. That's how it should be.
Anyway, long story short, how would you guys veer away from this fear-based mindset. Where do you pull and maintain your confidence from?
