How to combine my passion for RE and S&T/markets?
I've liked real estate ever since college. But I also like markets and being on an S&T desk, I don't want to be an RE broker sitting in Charleston, maybe something like MBS?

Career Resources
Combining your passion for real estate (RE) with your interest in markets and S&T (Sales & Trading) is definitely possible, and there are several career paths that align with both interests. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some ideas:
Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) Trading:
Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs):
Real Estate Private Equity (REPE) with a Capital Markets Focus:
Real Estate Debt Funds:
CMBS (Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities):
Real Estate Derivatives or Structured Products:
Real Estate-Focused Hedge Funds:
Real Estate Analytics or Research on an S&T Desk:
Each of these paths allows you to combine your passion for real estate with your interest in markets. To break into these roles, consider networking with professionals in these areas, gaining relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, if not already completed), and building a strong understanding of both real estate fundamentals and financial markets.

Unironically great answer.
But open to a real person chiming in.
Seriously no one?
There’s gotta be someone out there who can answer this
CMBS trading would be a good fit most RMBS traders don’t think all that much about the underlying RE.
CMBS syndicate or CRE warehouse lending would be a good choice. Speak to the CRE financing & securitization businesses at various banks, there are a lot of niche roles within those teams.
Great, thanks you two
