How to find a group of like-minded traders?
Last year my total return was about 112% although I was only actively trading from about June (from January to May my portfolio was in just index funds and was only up about 8% or so). I have a hybrid, idiosyncratic technique, but I'd like to get involved with a group of other traders whom I can learn from and who hopefully value my input enough to keep me around.
I'm not interested in pooling money, managing other people's money, or anything like that. I want to stick to my money in my account, but I'd like to work in tandem with a group of people who are also making money for themselves in a way that is beneficial for them and myself.
So my question is: does such a thing exist? How do I find such a group of people? How can I know they actual have things to teach me? Should I get active on a site like Stocktwits and hope to make connections there? Can I just use Stocktwits to improve my own trading, or is the site bullshit?
Joining a prop shop/arcade wouldn't be too difficult. They're mostly for folks who want to learn how to trade and don't mind blowing through $10k relatively quickly. If you look well enough, and depending on your trading style, you might even get better rates.
There are so many groups are active which are actively doing trading like Day Trader meetup group, Steam Trading card group etc..Hope this will help you.
Traderplanet is a good start. There are rooms out there that require a fee but no requirement to contribute trades if you are just getting started. You can learn how to size trades and piggyback off experienced traders. Most rooms have a trial period.
