Impact of distributed solar on power trading

I'm relatively new to the power trading world and am curious about the impact rooftop solar is having on power trading. I would be interested in hearing about how traders are accounting for behind the meter generating in decision making. What tools exist to forecast rooftop solar generation? What works well with them and what could be improved? Would love to hear any and all thoughts regarding BTM solar and trading.

The impacts are felt across the industry but differently depending on which area you're in. On the pricing side, you get issues w/ load reductions vs historical, issues with fixed cost recovery over variable usage. On the gen side, it's smashed peak and super peak pricing cause it's crushed load which has impacted the off-peak pricing. From the RT market side, vols across the super peak and evening peak (think sun setting) have gotten insane.

There are a lot of different articles and/or resources out there that discuss this. A good place to start would be reading about CAISO's issues w/ the "duck curve"
