Internship Question - Former D1 athlete and 09 grad non-target

What's up, long time lurker here.

Background -Former D1 all american and pro athlete -09 grad non-target (Fin Major)

3 month BB PWM internship or AnEx Advantage?

End goal is BB S&T or Credit Research

Been networking all summer at all BB's (good connections) and have been told I'm best fit for an off-cycle position. I feel like that is more a right time right place type of thing and could end up waiting around forever. BB PWM offer would be flexible and allow me to continue to network/interview if I needed a day or two off. Also, I have no internships or finance experience because of my commitment to sports in college. I feel like the biggest thing holding me back, besides this awful job market, is having zero experience. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Your best bet is going to be continuing to network or maybe go back to school and get MFE if you want to get into trading. Right now getting in trading is brutal, fixed income desks have been getting smaller and smaller. Also the BBs are struggling. You said that you want to get into a BB, maybe start at a boutique, get some experience, and then apply at a BB. Also because you have been out of school for 2 years it is going to be pretty difficult to get into an analyst program. This is why going back to school maybe a good option.

You are right about off cycle being right place right time

Sorry, should have speficied before. Not really interested in trading. Would prefer a sales role on a trading desk or rasing capital for a hedge fund or mutual fund down the road.

I have talked to a few BBs where for products such as HY or Bank Loans you start in research to learn the product. It couldn't hurt me to take the PWM internship and continue to network for an off-cycle position could it?
