Is macro credit a good product to trade?
Received an offer from a desk that trades cdx, cdx options, credit etfs/options and total return swaps. Is this a good desk to be on?

Career Resources
In short yes, probably one of the best FICC desks to join. Variety of very liquid to very illiquid products. Credit ETFs and algo/portfolio trading also huge growth area.
Thanks for the reply, which would offer better career opportunities? Trading synthetic cdx/etf or trading options?
Could you possibly expand on why this desk is one of the best FICC desks to join?
Would anyone else be willing to shed some light on this desk?
very interesting and technical desk. some of the smartest folks I've worked with on the street. you typically start with a bit of each of the products you mentioned, then specialize. exits to credit HFs.
Thanks for the response! Would they not typical exit to macro funds or RV pods at MM?
sure, have certainly seen these products proliferate recently at MMs as well. also, fwiw, these products are fairly "proppy" even as a sellside participant - the traders of the most liquid products (cdx, ETFs) tend to be mostly liquidity providers, but as you go more illiquid, much more flexibility with positioning your book and taking directional/RV views.
