At some point during this COVID hullabaloo retail died.

We always talked about it dying, and we always said, "Oh, it's on its last leg! Any day now!" but it actually happened. COVID killed retail.

I don't mean things like groceries. I mean things like Gamestop, that recently announced 300 permanent store closures.

This is what is coming to every non-essential retail-oriented business with a high debt load and a physical store presence required to operate. Some companies may go 7, some may go 11, but a huge swath of these establishments are about to eat shit and die in their current incarnation.

No strikes or expirations, but I will say I don't expect this bankruptcy activity to really shake out for a few months after it starts up.
