Jefferies Credit Experience

Hi all,

Was approached about a role within Jefferies credit HY/Distressed and was curious if anyone had experience or thoughts either working there or interacting with trading/strategy.

Obviously familiar with the sweatshop reputation in origination, but curious how/if that is represented in secondary.

Thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Jefferies is known for its scrappy and aggressive culture, which extends across various divisions. While much of the commentary focuses on origination and investment banking, the firm's overall reputation suggests a high-intensity work environment. This "sweaty" culture is often attributed to the firm's need to compete with bulge brackets while operating with fewer resources, requiring employees to take on more responsibility and hours.

For a role in Jefferies' credit HY/Distressed trading or strategy, you can expect a fast-paced and demanding environment. The firm's reputation for taking on deals and risks that other banks might avoid could translate into a dynamic and challenging experience in secondary markets. However, specific insights into the secondary credit team aren't detailed in the context provided. If you're considering the role, it might be worth reaching out to current or former employees in that division for firsthand perspectives.

JEF S&T is nothing like JEF IB. Not a sweat culture at all afaik, very "relaxed" and old-school wall street culture.
