Jobless in November...
Just finished uni this summer and have been looking for a job straight since mid august. Have had about 4 interviews with boutiques in roles pertaining to S&T and Research but nothings panned out yet. I wish i could give an exact amount of how many places i;ve emailed and cold called probably somewhere in the range of 30-50. Don't really know what to do at this point other than be persistent. Am I wasting my time right now fellas or should I wait until January again... Already been told from 2 people they'll consider me for their summer programs lol but thats 8 goddamn months away.
Any kind of advice on the job hunt is really appreciated!
Let's see your resume and maybe I can give some tips. I'm in much the same boat.
Same situation here. By summer programs you mean the analyst training programs for FT or internships? And how is it that they will consider you later when undergrad recruiting for FT is complete..
Whats FT?
And i;ve had to informational interviews where the MD's said we have nothing for you right now but touch base with me in the new year for a summer job.
Iono im lost as F%$^$ right now and tripping hard
FT = full-time.
Did you just start looking for jobs in mid August? Because if that's the case, I'd say you'd be lucky to get anything at this point. Now, that statement is highly contingent on the school you went to and/or if you've gathered any relevant finance experience -- but for the most part, its true.
If I were you, I'd really be gunning for those SA positions. In the mean time, given where you are (and assuming your resume isn't half bad) you really need to network. That will be the biggest factor. Once you've established some line of communication with a contact, you can bring up opportunities that might be available.
I agree with the poster above, show us a resume. You might get some pointers on that front as well.
Since im in the same boat, here is my resume: http://www.razume.com/documents/17411
Ive spoken to HR at 2 places both which said SA positions for S&T are for undergrad juniors only. What type of SA program would an MS grad look for? Thanks
