JPM Markets Math Test?

Know applications just came out, but has anyone done the OA yet? I heard linear algebra, probability, calculus, and basic coding is fair game…I get expecting this stuff from trading or research, but seems a bit overkill for a salesperson to need to know this?

Based on previous WSO threads, the JPM Markets Math Test for Sales & Trading roles can indeed cover a wide range of topics, including linear algebra, probability, calculus, and basic coding. While it might seem excessive for a salesperson role, the reasoning is that these tests are designed to assess quantitative aptitude and problem-solving skills, which are valuable even in sales roles within markets.

Here’s what you should focus on:

  1. Linear Algebra: Be comfortable with matrix operations, eigenvalues, and solving systems of equations.
  2. Probability: Expect questions on expected value, distributions, and basic combinatorics.
  3. Calculus: Brush up on derivatives, integrals, and optimization problems.
  4. Basic Coding: Python is often the go-to language. Practice writing simple scripts for data manipulation or solving math problems.

Even if you're targeting a sales role, these tests help JPM identify candidates with strong analytical skills, which are crucial for understanding complex financial products and market dynamics. If you're serious about preparing, consider practicing with resources like JobTestPrep or similar platforms that simulate these types of assessments.
