Late S&T / Markets Internships

Hi everyone. I am a junior @ a semitarget. I was wondering which boutiques/firms have S&T/Markets facing internships (whether opened or yet to be opened)? I got interested in S&T quite late (did not try for IB, though), so I did not get to network early enough. Or should I just move on to finding a different finance role altogether? Thanks!

If you're late to the game for S&T/Markets internships, there are still options to explore:

  1. Boutique Firms and Smaller Players: Many boutique firms or smaller financial institutions may not have rigid recruiting timelines like BBs (Bulge Brackets). These firms often hire on a rolling basis or later in the cycle. Start by researching and cold-emailing boutiques in your region or those with alumni connections to your school.

  2. Networking: Even if you started late, networking is still your best bet. Reach out to alumni or professionals in S&T roles via LinkedIn or email. Ask for informational interviews and express your interest in markets. Sometimes, opportunities arise from these conversations.

  3. Alternative Finance Roles: If S&T internships are not available, consider roles in related areas like risk management, corporate finance, or even Big 4 advisory. These can provide valuable experience and keep you in the finance ecosystem while you prepare for future S&T opportunities.

  4. Spring Internships: Some regional boutiques or smaller firms may offer spring internships, which could lead to summer opportunities. Keep an eye out for these openings.

  5. Cold-Emailing Strategy: When reaching out to firms, be concise and highlight your interest in markets, your relevant skills, and your willingness to learn. Tailor your emails to each firm and mention any connections or shared interests.

  6. Don’t Give Up on S&T: If you’re truly passionate about markets, don’t abandon the path entirely. Even if you don’t secure an S&T internship this summer, you can still pivot later by gaining relevant experience in other finance roles.

Good luck, and keep hustling!
