Yeah, good move. I know some people will say you don't need it. I disagree. I think learning it early sets you up better long term. Don't listen to grumpy senior traders.
As for how to learn Python, I would say python for data analysis is a good book, maybe do CS50 with that too. If you need guided courses, there's plenty online.
For projects, my go to would be to do something in excel, then automate it in python. That way you get real experience working with the language.
