Looking for a Guide to Bloomberg

Hi WSO,

Can anyone point me to a website, a .pdf doc, or anything related that can help me learn to use Bloomberg more 'fluently'? I don't use it much at work, but I do find myself having about an hour of downtime towards the end of the work day where I would like to spend learning how to use Bloomberg more effectively (eg. most common commands, useful features, etc.). Any help would be great.

Thanks!

There is no "book" or pdf that really helps. The best function is if you type in "BU" GO. Then surf through to get to the videos somewhere. I used to teach students at school how to use the Bloomberg when I was a senior and that is really the best way to familiarize yourself with basics. You can also hit the help key twice to talk to the help desk. You can ask them for a "cheat sheet". it will have on it the most used functions, but it wont tell you whats in the function like the videos.

I lol'd at first to this question, thinking of hard sought after manuals: like one for life or women.

But the other then the on bloomberg training program and cheat sheets, just getting on and grinding it out are really the only routes i have taken.

really interesting to see someone fluent in FI/munis/corp try and do things for equity/commodities and vice versa.

good luck, have fun!

do the cert at BU , (which is a easier version now than the one I did, they cut the hours down drastically)...after you get the certs just go on it everyday and hack around. Help Help will give you anything you need to as far as specific questions. There is an absolute ton of information on there so you can find new things everyday. Also much like Excel try to ditch the mouse, much better experience.
