This firm's commodities trading subsidiary is visiting our school soon. 1) How does commodities trading compare to IB in terms of learning / exit opportunities and pay? 2) How is Macquarie? Anyone here work there? 3) Any tips/ questions to ask them?

1) Lots of discussions about this already. Commodities are just a different track completely. It’s not a 2 year job for people hoping to exit elsewhere. It’s a long-haul career that takes most people years or decades to succeed in. At a bank, pay is going to be comparable to their other sales and trading divisions which are themselves lower than IB first few years (look at threads on bonuses between divisions recently). At a major or trade shop, it will likely be lower for the first few years than a front office role at a bank. Beyond 3-4 years, it starts to really fan out.
