Macro S&T to IB Transition Timeline

I've interned in several Fl S&T roles and will be joining FT at a MM bank on a portfolio trading team. Since the desk doesn't make markets, the work is more buy-side like and project-based, which I've grown to enjoy.

That said, l've become interested in exploring IB after being exposed to the change of pace. I've heard mixed views on when to bring this up - some suggest before I start, others say to wait a year and revisit once l'm on the desk.

Curious to hear any similar or opposing thoughts.
