Making the jump from BB Trading to Prop Trading
I’m making the jump from trading at a BB to a QR role at a proprietary trading firm. The pay is about a 35% increase, which is nice but not like the comp packages you see at some of the larger HFs. I’m honestly nervous about the move from a place I’ve been excelling in to a new shop. Has anyone done the same? Any advice you’d give your younger self?
Congrats! Understand the new firms infrastructure and what tools are available to you. Ask for what you need as well -- goes a long way.
I've never seen that transition, I would expect trader->QT. Must've been on a good desk.
But either way, prop firms wouldn't have recruited you if they didn't think you'd be capable, so keep in mind that they picked you for a reason.
May I ask from which desk/asset class?
