Need your $0.02 for career path
Hi guys,
I am currently an undergraduate doing Quant Econs (1st major) and Quant Finance (2nd Mjor). I would like to seek advice from you guys as to how I can proceed to the sales / trading department.
Just a brief description of myself:
Interest: computer programming (know a few languages like Excel VBA, Matlab, C++, etc), enjoy problem solving, mathematics and debate.
Entrepreneurship: currently working as a part time consultant for a social start-up, director of the entrepreneurship club in my uni
Personality traits: Fast learner, love to talk with people, enjoy critical analysis, creative thinking activities. Like to work in fast paced settings.
Weakness: Short memory span (esp for very detailed and lengthy stuffs), can't really perform routine works (like calculating the balance sheet and accounting stuffs)
So I would like to explore the option of become a trader. Given my edu background, traits and weaknesses:
(1) Am I fit to become a trader? (2) If yes, how should I proceed as an undergraduate? (3) What other things should I expect if I tread this career path?
Love to hear from you guys ^^.
You have to answer that question for yourself. There is no absolute formula for a perfect trader...some things can help but its up to you
