New skills to learn while in quarantine?
Hey guys. I am a senior about to graduate and enter full-time doing S&T at a BB. I was going to study for the CFA Level I but it was obviously postponed till December. Since I have a lot more time on my hands now being stuck in quarantine, I have been trying to learn something new. I got a WSP course and have been doing a lot of the accounting courses (I know this is irrelevant to S&T especially in my product area), but I thought it would be good to learn for the future if I ever decide to try out something else. I was wondering if there were any other skills/courses you guys recommend I take up (Python, excel, modeling, etc.) or any good books you recommend to read.
It's a pretty open forum/general but I would like to keep it related to something that would benefit me more in S&T/ER.
Thanks!
Not sure if you're doing execution or sales trading, but definitely learning some Python. I took a few courses in undergrad and thought it was relatively easy to pick up. The syntax is very logical. Don't know a ton of people in S&T but always heard/read that being able to automate simple tasks can be key. Udemy, Khan Academy, and just general Youtube videos are all a decent place to start.
In terms of books, I recently read Angela Duckworth's "Grit" and am working through "Super Pumped", which tells the story or Uber's rise and toxic culture. I bought "The King of Capital" but won't be able to pick it up for a while.
Good luck and enjoy getting your online degree!
