Offers: Trafigura vs Banking

Hi everyone, I am interested in gas and power trading longer term. I currently have offers in banking and from Traf in their oil grad program. Traf would more likely be a step in the right direction towards my goals, but I have some hesitation as comp is materially lower and I could end up on some random desk. Just wanted to use this as a bit of a sounding board from some of the more experienced commodity guys out there.

You didn't specify which role at the bank is being offered here. Trafigura's oil graduate program is good exposure to the world of commodities but doesn't guarantee you becoming a trader (unlike BP's TDP or Shell). They also have a very cutthroat/brute work culture. Also I wouldn't worry much about comp especially starting fresh in your career, better to build credibility by gaining valuable experience and networking.
