Optiver Graduate Trader (Sydney)

Hello everybody, I was recently offered a graduate trading role at Optiver's Sydney office. However, I am not entirely sure if I should be accepting, as I have read that the average employment rate is quiet short,. Furthermore, the contract states a one-week notice on termination, which is not ideal in terms of job security. Can anybody give an estimate as to how many graduates leave Optiver before the end of the first year, and the overall experience they have had or potentially heard of?

Congratulations on the offer.

I'm not saying this from a position of expertise, but you need to look at this logically. Trading is a niche skill, and they are hiring people who are mostly inexperienced. Once they start trading, some people will be good and some people won't be. They aren't going to keep those around that aren't, so its naturally going to be more cut-throat than a usual grad program. If this doesn't suit you, you need to consider if this is the part of the industry you wish to work in. From my understanding, you are, however, well compensated for this additional risk.

Curiously, what is your background?
