Physical oil trading simulations
Anybody know where I can practice the sort of games or simulations that the likes of BP use in their recruitment programmes for trading?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks ppl

Go to a target for physical shops. It's proprietary software - a few of those schools have it + BP, not many others.
Tupac, did you apply for BP?
Many thanks tupac, I have already graduated and have been invited for these simulations, so just wanted to practice beforehand.
Any websites/ reading material you can recommend?
Thanks again for your input.
BP doesn't have a physical trading simulation. There are case studies they use in interviews which are physical, but the trading sim is strictly paper.
It's somewhere on here...

Thanks for your help guys
Yes they do, I've used it?
No, that was a paper trading game. You were trading frontline wti futs .
No, I know exactly what I was trading. To keep this account fairly anonymous I'm not going to elaborate, but I insist, they do in fact have physical trading simulations.
So what are the physical trading case studies like?
Any ideas where I can practice such case studies?
Simulation based programs may be used before interviews or during competitions (like rot man, which m.Wallace referred to), but won't be used in the interview process. Although at some stages you may need to manage exposure, cases in interviews are much more supply/demand based. Don't worry about storage/transport etc for specific products.
This isn't true. I know shops which have paper trading simulations as part of the interview for a position directly out of undergrad.
i think he was saying bp specifically
Even then, I know BP uses a paper simulation for undergrad FT.
.
Can anybody recommend reading material on physical trading. Thanks,
1) BP uses both paper games as well as software for many things. For interviews it is easier to explain paper games than try to teach people how to use the software.
2) Pro tips: know your position, understand basic supply/demand principles, do mental math quickly, be able to elaborate on your position and view.
That said, I'd be interested to hear what other places use.
I am also reading this forum to better inderstand how do you start a career in physical oil and gas trading. Good tips.
