Prediction: Big Money Will No Longer Come from Public Companies
After reading about the culture clash between MER and BAC it seems that Ken Lewis is going to have a big impact on the new Wall Street. I think most if not all of the large banking public companies will be mostly institutionalized and smaller, more nimble firms that engage in more risky investment banking will be private companies, free from public stipulation.
yeah because those private partnerships really have so much capital to underwrite financing and trading operations, right?
isnt GS still partially partnership?
GS maintained the partnership structure but it is still very much a public firm.
The smaller firms that will emerge are really going to be focused on pure advisory and won't have the capabilities to have extensive trading operations.
