Prospect career advice?

I’ve been going through IBD recruiting this whole year. I’ll be honest - I think I’d hate IB. I don’t even think I’d be that interested in private equity.

My interests align with the market and with private credit. I understand in the past that it’s been a pretty easy transition from a credit trading desk —> credit HF or really any trading desk —> HF.

I don’t want to be a programmer. I find this even more boring than investment banking. So if I don’t want to code, do you think it’s still possible to go from S&T —> credit HF? Would I be screwed going into S&T because of automation? Do you think there’s still a small chance of breaking into HF before they all get automated?
