Protein meal trading

Hi,

Anybody familiar with the physical trading of proteins and oils for stockfeed industry? I am considering a possible lateral which was introduced by a friend of mine.

I am unfamiliar with any possible opportunities and difference in working culture from going from iron ore to ag. Would appreciate any insight.

Thanks

I never worked in metals but I did switch from energy to ag and the pace is much, much slower on the ag side. Could just be my company but everything tends to move much slower and technology is much further behind as well. A lot of the commodities you end up dealing with/competing with for space in the feed ration don't have futures traded on them and therefore there isn't much data on them either. It is a lot of gut feel trading and being on the phone with other market participants to get a feel for a market. Not much published pricing either at least in the markets I was dealing with.
