This is an insane level of self-delusion and naivety.

Without any professional experience or body of work so far, you are planing on being hired to a trading desk (very difficult in and of itself) that you aren’t actually interested in, only to use them as a stepping stone for a seat that you are “really interested in”? I think said trading desk(s) would sniff it out the phoniness and that you weren’t actually interested in or bought in to what they were doing.

Why equity derivatives? What makes you think you’d perform and produce in that seat?

When you plan out a career with that much rigidity I can guarantee you it will not go the way you want and you will spend many years before that being miserable.

Thanks for the reality check!

My dad does equity derivs so I wanted to follow that. I guess I should just ask him lol but wanted to see the internets opinion

Don’t use “lol” and “ha” when uncalled for, it makes you look immature. I get it’s an anonymous forum and most of us aren’t too far from your age, just keep it normal. Should not be too hard for you.

But yes good advice from the guy above
