Put on "Hold"- Somewhat internal lateral and the odds

Hey guys,

Had a superday yesterday for S&T BB and received word I was put on "hold" today. I actually interned at the same BB over summer in a middle-back office role in a major NE metro area and I networked with multiple MD's on the S&T side to get into a position to lateral.

I've decided to extend out my academic career in order to pursue an internship in ST. I decided to decline the full-time offer I was given for the former role (before you say I'm an inept idiot for doing so I have other hedges; would much rather pursue opportunities here first)

I was wondering about the odds of me being able to make a push over into ST with a hold status? I've emailed my contacts about how to further myself as a candidate.

I'll throw some color on my profile so you guys have a better idea:

STEM+Business, Non-target, very high GPA, Been apart of research comps, interned in same BB over summer. Apparently my profile was strong, but not strong enough to push me over.
