quant asset management vs structuring vs consulting
I have received following offers:
a quant analyst within Asset Management at a MM bank and
structuring/Trader/quant at structured derivative desk within another MM bank.
Which one is more prestigious and gives the best exit opportunities? Ultimately wants to be placed at a HF or moving to a BB...
I have always wanted to work towards the derivative market and the structuring role will allow me to do that. However the AM is for multi-assets and I will been exposed towards different products, excluding options though.
I have consulting offers from MBB but with RISK MANAGEMENT practice, should I accept considering prestige of MBB conpared to MM banks?
Many traders don't care that much about prestige, so you might not get that much help here.
When you interviewed with folks, who struck you as more intelligent? Who struck you as someone you could really learn from?
Me personally? I would lean towards quant asset management all other things being equal, but that's just me and my preferences. Either way, you can't go wrong if you choose the people you think you can learn from the most.
All else equal, I'd work on the structured derivatives desk, it sounds most interesting and give you a good understanding of derivative products. But like Illini said, definitely factor in the people and where you think you'd get a better experience.
