Really irritating jargon on Bloomberg Chat
In the same way as other industries have the often maligned ‘reach out’ and ‘offline’, what are some of the most irritating sayings that you see on IB chat? Personally, any time that I read the phrases ‘any cares’, ‘grows’ or ‘more behind’, my insides wither.
which broker hurt u
I have never really understood using "ack" or "tks". For some reason, I just don't like those two. Prefer just "ok" / "got it" or "thanks".
ack is ridiculous, especially coming from young people.
Why? It's ingrained into me from the army personally
Most people on Bloomberg were not in the army and it's not short for something most people ever say.
agree with ack but "tks" and "tx" is the powermove play
over the top amounts of ‘ty’ also irritates me. I’m an advocate of the ‘k’ approach.
I used to be a bad violator of "any cares". Strong endorsement for 'tx'.
but the greatest broker line of them all "more buyers than sellers" or vice versa. Anyone caught saying that would risk termination
work with a snr. pm who hates it when people use "yo" or multiples like "hey hey".
took me 2 years before i adopted "hihi" as my default greeting
"ack" doesn't bother me since it's a legitimate term in FIX / electronic trading
sometimes credit suisse comes at me just with one message " /107", where is my "hihi" damn it?
tyty
'ack' is my all time least favorite; it grinds my gears when someone uses that especially a younger person. It strikes me as being very arrogant and I have found that more arrogant/stand-offish people generally use this one.
'hey There brother' especially when this is said over a box or open line. Typically older people say this in what I trade, and it sounds strange to me. I am totally fine with any other variation of that greeting but 'hey There brother' just annoys me to no end.
On a side note, thank God I don't have to deal with 'tx' because it is very similar to a code name for a product I trade so nobody I know uses that one
Hey brother, can you ack that deal? Tx.
lol its actually amazing how common that exact line is
"y"
First trade i placed.
Asked for a price on a usdjpy options structure. Sales guy responds with "y".
I responded with "none of your damn business."
Turned out it meant yes...
ack for ACKMAN. yuk.
I hate when someone bloomberg chat me and says hihi (unless it is a cute girl lol)
The worst are: yh, rgds, tyty I never understood also broker writing 'bibibi'.. wooot
Wtf is bibibi
