really old trading interns

i never interned on a trading program...i worked in IT as a programmer for a few years, and when a senior trader i had done some tech work for lateralled, he offered me a spot as his junior trader, and that started my trading career.  I never explored other trading desks / products...and i've always been curious..."the road not taken" as it were.

I think my generic skills as a trader and general markets understanding would be applicable on most other desks...but i've never actually worked on another desk (just US liquid Rates).  Now that i'm currently unemployed, i'd like to be a summer intern in a rotational program...maybe there is another trading desk that is a better fit for me?  Only way to find out is experience, right?

How should i go about getting a summer intern spot in one of the rotational summer intern programs?  (i'm mid-40s, but still young at heart)
