Reneging from BB to work at other BB?

Worked as a SA at a BB this summer, received a return offer, and signed.  After coming back home to finish out my final year at college, I realized that I do not want to move away from my family to work at the BB I interned with.  I received a job offer from a second BB who has an office very close to my hometown.  The product/team is also a better fit.  The second company does not know I signed with my SA company because they never asked.  Is this too risky of a move?  If I choose to renege do I call both HR and my MD or just HR?  I genuinely had a positive SA experience but I don't want to be far away from my family for an indefinite period of time.  Any advice would be appreciated.

In my opinion, I would say something like you cannot work in that location anymore because there has been a drastic change in your families need and you need to be accessible to them. Just my thoughts

So if OP reneges LA for NY that’s safer than say reneging NY for NY?

Funniest

Say a health situation involving his family requires him to make more money and the BB brand will enable better exit opps.
