Reneging IBD SA offer for S&T

Hi all,

Just wanted some opinions on reneging an American BB IBD offer for a S&T SA (MS/JPM/GS.) I initially accepted the IBD offer as, at the time, I thought that was the path that I wanted to go down but now in hindsight, I think S&T would be a better fit for me.

Given that I've signed the contract and this forum seems full of stories about the consequences of reneging on offers, I was wondering if this is as prevalent in London compared to the US and would be grateful for any advice on what my best course of action should be.

You can do it, but don't update your linkedin/post anything public about where you are going until you are literally working full time at your new firm.  Be polite and clear that you will no longer be taking up the offer at your IBD firm in your email- and again do not tell them where you are going. Good luck.

regneging isn't ideal but its not a bad thing in the UK. DON'T update your linkedin until and IF they give you a full time offer that includes liking a lot of news specific to that company. be polite and thank them. you'll be fine but under no circumstances share where you're going - can never trust HR
