Rising Junior Seeking Help/Advice/Mentorship - How to Prepare for 2021 SA?
Hi all,
I'm a rising junior and am currently applying to 2021 SA programs in S&T. This summer I do not have a real internship so I have doubled down on coding and following the markets everyday and formulating my thoughts on the macro picture.
I got rejected from Citi back in late April so have been feeling a bit down, and was wondering how can I best prepare myself to be competitive for other banks that are kicking off soon?
If anyone is willing to be my mentor and talk for 30 minutes - that would truly mean the world to me.
And any advice/encouragement would be truly appreciated. Thank you.

In all seriousness you can't get down over one bank rejecting you. I swear a lot of the app process is like asking girls out and interviews are the dates. More girls will say no than yes and you can't get bothered by it. Likewise just keep doing what you are doing and try to reach out to alumni or hit people up on linkedin. Worst case scenario they ignore you unless you come off like an ass. I know some people have other views on the linkedin cold call, but that is my take. They might not necessarily help you out at their firm but if you make a strong impression they might pass you along to people they know at other firms. One more piece of advice. One summer to get "resume experience" I took one of those awful northwestern mutual type sales "internships". I hated it and probably would have been better off working my old high school summer job, but it did teach me something very important about this process. Once the ball gets rolling it can't be stopped. When you get an interview, more will follow and once you get an offer more will come. Good luck

Other than the usual BBs, what other banks would you say have notable trading presence (industry/product specific)?

Regional dealers like First Horizon or 5th Third have very small trading desks, but they exist
You would need to make a list by country to find the other banks The big 5 chinese banks all have trading operations Germany, Spain, Italy, Austrailia, etc...each country has large banks that have trading operations...but in the US they are small offices. Same for Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, India, etc..
