Sell-side analyst when to move to buyside
I'm a first year analyst in trading. I got approached by a couple headhunters for junior trading roles in HFs, which I'm a bit surprised/confused by as they don't have any record of my reputation/pnl except my college degree and company name. I enjoy my current job, eager to work but think it can definitely be more challenging. I also want more exposure to senior traders' more hands-on teaching experience of how to generate pnl, much less interested by the sell-side operational work that now crams my day. But of course, there're plenty of things for me to learn at my current seat. It also confuses me why associates/VPs around me chose to stay when even I can be approached by HF trading roles. Why do HFs approach me at this stage (not even a year in)? When do people actually start considering buyside jobs?
