SEO Decision Available

Denied here.

Clearly, SEO needs to work on its decision making skills and stop being so attracted to charity cases. people who have the most hunger should be selected, not people who are chosen because of their "diverse background"-whatever the fuck that means

How did they deny you? You probably got waitlisted. Word is they haven't gotten through half of the applications.

And if you're a soph, keep your mouth shut...almost no one is getting offers. Period.

yeah i'm a soph, but still though, i had experience in cap mkt. with a BB IB prior to this.

and they have gotten through applications. this is for the FIRST DEADLINE. I applied in October.

If you access your online account, the one you used to apply, then it will have a link for "Decision" there

Dear Person,

Thank you for applying to the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) Career Program. The Admission Committee received a record number of applications and inquiries from qualified candidates, such as you, for approximately 400 internship positions. Although the Admission Committee commends you for your achievements, we are unable to offer you an internship at this time.

Please review the eligibility requirements under each internship area and consider applying next year if you are eligible.

If you are a freshman, sophomore or an undergraduate interested in Corporate Law, you will automatically be considered for SEO-U.

Thank you once again for your interest in the SEO Career Program. We wish you continued success in your current and future endeavors.

Don't blame this on SEO's decision of choosing 'diverse' candidates. SEO's demand is driven solely by the partners and this year that is almost zero in regards to soph analysts. Unfortunately your experience is likely to be lived again when you apply to firms independently.

I got waitlisted at SEO. I have a 3.86, go to a target, and also have experience. And I am a junior. At this point I am just hoping to get interviews. All in all, SEO gets bagged on by alot of people but dont just assume things because of that.

Please... if I hear any more sophomores on this forum whining about how they aren't getting into the programs they wanted I may break my computer. Try being a senior who signed with Bear for last summer, found another great job, got a full time offer, only to have THAT renegged when the fund got shut down. I'm not asking for anyone's pity. It sucks for me, it's a shitty market, it happens. But, you have two years left to find something, those of us who are seniors or who have already graduated have nothing. So please stop whining, go out and network, and don't complain about not getting into some diversity program.

One second...you are pissed because SEO decided to go with candidates with 'diverse backgrounds'? I think there might be a contradiction in that statement.

no. the issue is that i've had the experience of working with SEO interns, and I've also heard a lot about SEO interns from people in different divisions of the same i-bank, or different i-banks. It's all the same, they always say how weak SEO candidates generally are.

This is very similar to the whole college admissions process; sometimes the people who want it the most and who have earned strong qualifications are not chosen, and rather another person who isn't necessarily as strong is chosen because of a particular quota/"diversity"-factor

no need to keep saying "stop bitching" because sophomore programs exist for a reason...to cater to the needs of sophomores and to help get sophomores experience. Even though it doesn't carry as much weight as that of a junior year internship, it still has meaning.

especially in this cruddy market, getting a sophomore rotational position or an internship as a sophomore can be crucial.

So cut out your stupid fucking comments and learn how to factor in other perspectives.

Quit crying.

SmallTalk101whatever what's done is done

fuck it anyways. no point in arguing online and wasting time

Ok, so even after I said this, you stupid motherfuckers still decided to post "quit bitching"

don't you fucking legal-department idiots understand that I gave in and basically said that I was done "whining"

John Wikowski

then why are you still arguing, whining, and crying?

and legal department? so the only people who criticize you must be worse than you?

...last time I checked, YOU were the one screaming about how you couldn't get into a program, that by your admission, is filled with "weak candidates".

sounds like you'd be lucky to get your dumb ass into the legal department. lemme know how that "hunger" works out for you when you're stupid and unqualified.

riight.

i've already gotten an offer for a consulting firm and a large hedge fund based in chicago. So i'd seriously considering shutting the fuck up, xqtrack.

and btw, I wasn't "still whining". I was trying to show you that I had intended to stop my "whining" 2 posts ago by quoting myself.

John Wikowski

and before you tell me to quit crying since I had experience at a BB the year before, how about you start following the markets and realize that banks have gone under and many banks have eliminated positions for sophomores since the summer.
