Series 3 Study tips
Hello Everyone,
I'm relatively new here, and have read through this website many times! I recently have been hired as an analyst for a Utilities/Power company. I want to the Series 3 exam but have no Idea how to study for it, So I figured my first post here would about that!
Does anyone know of any great study guides out there that can help? Or even some tips on how to study for the exam. My Supervisor told me the license would greatly help my position and career here so I am eager to take it! ( I also have little background in using commodities brokerages)
Please assist!
STCUSA makes study materials and practice exams which will help you pass most securities and insurance exams.
This should give you a very BASIC understanding. Good luck http://www.investopedia.com/professionals/series3/#axzz2Mdd3SXPV
Thanks for the references. I've seen investopedia's guide, but I also wanted to get into practice exams. And also, STCUSA is a little pricy, anything else thats not as expensive.

I know that STC is $$$, but I would pay for the study exams material - go through the chapter by chapter test questions- then once you get the hang of these go through each of the practice exams, then the time exams.
Time is the biggest issues when taking this exam. I found being able to recognize the questions by going through the chapters, when it came to the timed exams I was able to tackle these questions much quicker. I would say the material is not that hard, the material once learned will allow you to knock out the test with flying colors.
The nice thing about STC is they explain the math as to why you got the question wrong- then you will not make the mistake again.
Good luck- I will give some more thought to what I did to pass.

Just wondering if anyone has taken the Series 3 and had any recommendations for study material. Or alternatively, if anyone had any old material that they weren't using anymore.
I'd really like to start taking a look at the material and take the test before summer rolls around.
