Shell basically said it was fake news.
Of course we should take their word for it
If it does happen, I think the future sum will be less than the sum of the current parts.
A lot of BP traders will likely retire or find other jobs given the post merger stock price bump, worry about joining another big trading org that already has a trader in the same seat, and inherent uncertainty of big cultural changes. Better to have a controlled exit to somewhere you choose than a forced one.
