S&T Exit Opps

Hi everyone,

I was lucky enough to get a S&T return offer at a BB. Now, I know this is an invaluable opportunity, but I just keep thinking about the limited number of exit opps for fixed income trading. Will I enter a path too narrow that the only exit opp is being a trader at another bank? What are the common exit opps for S&T? For HF, do traders or bankers have a better chance of breaking in? I would really appreciate everyone's insights.

Thank you so much!

Talking from experience, in fixed income you definitely have a good chance to break into a HF if your trying to go to a fund focused on your product. For example, I trade an mbs derivative product and all of the people at HFs that trade this product came from sell side trading desks. For equities I can’t speak to that but within ficc most of the HF pms I work with came from sell side trading desks vs traditional ib (including more general macro pms that are tourists im my product)
