If the goal is to ultimately go into hedge fund in a PM track, is it better to start on the sell side doing structuring or trading?

Hate to hijack the thread but as an indirect way of bumping can anyone describe the quantitative skillset needed to be an analyst in structured product origination (IB) working with exotic ABS and provide general advice for a superday?
