Summer Technology Analyst at BB > Finance
Hi, I'm a sophomore computer science major at a top public university (think Berkeley/Michigan/UVA) who just received an offer from a top 3 BB for a summer technology analyst internship. Right now I'm still deciding whether I eventually want to go into finance or tech, but if I were to go into finance I'd mostly be looking into vanilla S&T, prop trading, or quant trading at this time -- all of which programming/technical skills should at least be somewhat helpful. This offer is likely the best I'm going to get this recruiting cycle in terms of getting close to finance (applied to S&T summer analyst programs at BBs but none of them worked out), but as I'm planning on going through finance networking recruiting for my junior year internship in just a couple of months I'm concerned that I'm going to be shoehorned into the back office tech category by FO people. Would this internship still be a good option for finance recruiting because of the BB name brand?
