What does it take to be a trader
I'm an incoming freshman in college. I'm interested in energy trading(my school is decently well-known for it/top 20 uni), and I will be majoring in Finance and Computer Science. Can someone walk me through the general recruiting timeline(when should I be getting internships/applying for positions)?
Also, what kind of internships should I be getting(which positions & best firms)?
Thanks in advance.

what type of energy trading?
Oil and Gas if possible
Energy is a broad spectrum. Do you want to do Coal/Power/O&G?
I would prefer Oil and Gas, but I'm not opposed to other options either
Are you referring to SnT or Quant? In my opinion, securing a SnT opportunity is easier.
If I were you, I would plan to enroll in several advanced math and statistics classes. This is key, and I rarely see it mentioned on this site.
Another good (and more fun) skill to develop is Poker. Big Quant firms (2 Sigma, IMC, Citadel, Jane Street, etc.) often sponsor/support collegiate Poker clubs/organizations.
I am more interested in SnT, but I’m pretty comfortable with advanced math and I have confidence I could succeed as a quant. Which is easier to break into?
