Thoughts on Principal and Fundamental Focused Trading Desks at Goldman

Interested in learning more about the principal/fundamental trading desks at Goldman. I know that SSG does principal investing, MBD does Real Estate/PE, and GSAM has some cool funds, but within the main securities program what do desks like Principal Funding & Investment, Distressed, and HY look for in candidates? What types of backgrounds do they look for? What kind of risk can they take and principal positions can they put on?

Especially interested in PFI and would love to hear about that. Are there any other principal desks like that? What kind of trades do they actually do, and how selective is the desk?
