To call or not to call back that is the question....
Had an informational interview a month ago with the head of a desk at this boutique, wasn't offered anything except was told at the end that there might be something for me in the research department of the firm. was told to call him back in a few days, did so no luck, e-mailed nothing, even e-mailed the head of research nothing.
tried to get a hold of him twice last week but no luck either. Safe to say he might be screening my calls ? or maybe i just got shitty luck trying to get a hold of this dude (have to add that it took about a month just to get this informational interview set up)
I apologize to anyone in advance who;s been reading my posts for the redundancy but i'm officially starting to get desperate unfortunately.
what to do fellas?
Your desperate and what harm can come from calling him again in a few days (aim for Friday afternoon when it's slower)?
Pulled the trigger and called quarter after market close. Got the secretary and told me "he'd call back". Safe to say I have shitty ass luck? FML
Keep on calling, dont give up on it. If they say he will call back just say "no its ok ill try again later".... coz they never call back lol.
Odds are that if you call and don't reach him then he won't know. Keep it up but when you actually talk to him play it cool as if you got him on the first try. No reason to sweat it, he's busy.
I have played phone tag with an MD for three and a half months and he was never available or called back besides two of the times I called. I finally got him on the phone talked for about 30 minutes and ended up getting a first round interview at his bank after our conversation. NEVER give up. I have had people I networked with tell me some bankers will test you and not call back the first few times you call just to see how hungry you are and how badly you want to talk to them. Don't be annoying though, I wouldn't call more than once a week and send more than one email a week.
