TOP desk for Sales
Solely from a compensation point of view, what desks would be the more interesting to work on ?
Type of product: How would you rank the following ? Fixed Income / Equity / Fx / Commos
Clients: Also what kind of client is it more profitable to work with ? Instits / Corpo / Hedge Funds / Asset managers ?
Complexity of product: Now I understand we are going toward more simple products so I assume Cash is better than derivatives/structured products but for how long ?

nope, more volumes in equity exotics in 1H09 than 06-08.
I would argue that it depends on the type of exotic. A lot of the more complex products churned out by BNP and SocGen aren't nearly as active as they used to be.
As for the OP... there isn't a ranking. It depends on what you are interested in and what you are good at. Would you prefer derivs or cash? Current hot sector or not?
I dont know why one's question regarding what mix of type of product/client/complexity of product brings in more commission/volume for Salespersons would be that a silly question
After having an idea of that, I would make up my own mind and I do have my preferences anyway.
