Trading Macro Vol
Hey guys, I'm currently going to be entering a top 10 pre-experience master's in finance program. Looking to break into the macro space, whether at a bank or fund. I have a bachelor's in math so I am intrigued by the more technical/quantitative products.
I really enjoy learning about volatility and trading in small size for my personal account. However, my primary interest is global macro, so I am really keen on learning more about rates/FX vol and potentially getting on a desk in the space. Index volatility is definitely interesting, but I'd want to trade with more of a macro lens.
My program is not a STEM-designated one like Princeton/MIT and is primarily geared towards IB/PE folks. I plan on taking electives with a more quantitative/trading bent - like financial engineering, fixed income, risk management. Other than that, how best would I position myself for such a role? I am familiar with the basics - the Greeks, skew, term structure, and flys/reversals/strangles.
