Trading Scene in A Good Year (Russel Crowe)--wtf is going on

a buddy told me to watch these scene yesterday bc he didnt know what was going on. they show crowe in what looks like a sell side trading floor (trading floor setup lots of people sitting down etc). when crowe tells his trader to start buying, the entire floor goes into a frenzy and everyone stands up, starts screaming and using all sorts of hand motions like they are on the floor of an exchange. was this done just for effect and to look cool or is there an actual explanation for this?

please enligten me...

i did like the rest of the movie though. his sister was bangin
