What are technical Skills I can foster as a Sales?

Hi everyone, 

I recently heard from someone working at MS that there's a general expectation that salespeople have technical skills as well. Despite being generalist, everyone on the sales team has a specific area in which he or she specializes. 

This got me thinking, as someone trying to break into S&T, what are the technical skills I can develop in advance?
