What do I make of the Interview Feedback
I interviewed at a middle market bank for S&T. I didn’t get the job but I got some feedback . They told me I wasn’t “talkative, and type A enough.” And the interviewers said they had to control the conversations. How should I improve myself?
Just practice taking the lead on questions during an interview and during coffee chats. If you are interviewing or chatting with 10 people in a day you don't want to have to do work, you'll be exhausted so its much easier when a candidate takes the lead.
So like asking them questions starting off so it’s more conversational? That makes sense
There are several ways to improve your interview communication skills:
Practice active listening: This means focusing on what the other person is saying and answering their questions. Pay attention to tone of voice, gestures and facial expressions. Maintain eye contact and repeat questions to clarify them.
Develop your speaking skills: Practice your speaking skills by giving short speeches in front of a group or by recording yourself on video. Focus on the clarity and logic of your speech.
Prepare for the interview: Find out what questions may be asked and prepare answers to them. Develop knowledge about the company, its products and services.
Email them back and tell them you appreciate the feedback, and you have some great new ideas you want to share with them. How soon can they meet? You're interviewing for a sales job, and you got another touch and you're doing nothing? I'm not saying you'll get the job, but if you don't know what to do with that, you might want to go to law school.
