What trading desk would you want to be on?

Hello,

I am first year going to Lehman in July. I am a generalist in their analyst program and can end up on any desk. When I get there I will be placed on desk after a rotation process. What trading desk would you recommend I seek to join? I can end up on anything in equities or fixed income.

Thanks.

nathanielpowersrates are amazingly awesome and highly paid.

Why do you feel rates are amazingly awesome? Also, which area within rates are you referring to specifically? There's a big diff between swaps and exotics, also in terms of pay I would guess. (Not there's anything wrong with either, of course...)

brisbaneWhat is meant by "rates" trading?

FX/Commodities or something more complex (structured credit/structured equity).

But, um, aren't you doing a rotation? I think you'll have a chance to see firsthand what desk will be right for you.

Rates = interest rates.

Thanks, Captain Obvious. That really doesn't clarify much. Are we talking municipal bond traders, government traders, Fed futures traders, etc...?

ya but im told its like very competitive and you need to express interest in the desks that you want if you want to get on them. I am just looking for something that is not likely to be cutback if things continue to be bad
